SESSION TYPES

Individual Therapy (Psychotherapy)

Individual therapy is a joint process between a mental health professional and an individual. Goals of therapy are commonly ones that support insight into maladaptive behaviors and change to improve quality of life. People may seek therapy for help with issues that are difficult to face alone. Individual therapy is also called therapy, psychotherapy, psychosocial therapy, talk therapy, and counseling. Therapy can help people overcome barriers to a healthy well-being. It can increase insight into why we may think or behave in a certain way, and ultimately make changes to stop those patterns from repeating within ourselves or off-spring. People in therapy can learn tools skills for managing difficult situations, making healthy decisions, and creating and meeting personal goals. Some clients may choose therapy for no specific identified “problem” but rather for personal growth.

Couples Therapy (Marriage Counseling)

Marriage counseling, also called couples therapy, is a type of psychotherapy. Couples therapy is not exclusive to only married individuals. It can help couples and partners of all types recognize and resolve conflicts and improve their relationships and increase intimacy and connection. Through couples therapy, you can make thoughtful decisions about rebuilding and strengthening your relationship, or it may be appropriate to separate and go different ways. In couples therapy, I utilize Gottman-centered approaches. To learn more about The Gottman Institute and what it entails in couples therapy, please visit www.gottman.com

Family Therapy

Family therapy is a type of psychological counseling (psychotherapy) that can help 2 or more family members improve communication and resolve conflicts in a safe and controlled setting. Family therapy is often more short term compared to individual or couples therapy. It may include all family members or just those able or willing to participate in desired change. The specific treatment plan will depend on the families’ area of concern. Family therapy sessions can teach skills to deepen family connections, increase empathy and learn tools to assist the family through stressful times, even after

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) and/or Psychedelic Integration

Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) is a type of treatment for mental health disorders that combines the use of the anesthetic drug ketamine with traditional talk therapy. KAP or Psychedelic Therapy includes a pharmacological component that can facilitate a deeper exploration of the patient’s inner world. A significant key differences between traditional talk therapy and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy is the speed and intensity of the therapeutic process. Please reach out for more information on KAP or Psychedelic Integration.
